So, I woke up yesterday to horrendous thunder, lightening, and winds. Apparently, winds got up to 60-70 mph, which explains how our neighbor's tree fell! It completed uprooted and fell right on top of the power lines, damaging the fence we share and knocking the power out for our entire street. Lovely. After the storm calmed, Fox 23 News showed up to interview our neighbor and to get footage of the "war zone." In the midst of everything, Ultimate Electronics showed up to deliver our new dishwasher and fridge, which we can't even use right now! After watching the news last night, it looks like our little section of midtown got hit the worst. Electricity is supposed to be restored by tomorrow at 11pm...not holding my breath though.

This bites!
Literally. So, Steve began the demolition of the downstairs bathroom earlier this week. He complained to me several times about getting flea bites, which I quickly dismissed as being mosquito bites. WRONG. He showed a few to me and I had to concede that they were indeed fleas and I was wrong. He decided to bomb the bathroom and we figured that would solve the problem. WRONG again: While brushing George today, I discovered fleas all over him. GROSS. I immediately felt them crawling over me, which they weren't, it was just my paranoia kicking in. We drove to Pet'smart to get flea shampoo and a flea collar. Not sure why his Frontline isn't working or where in the heck these fleas came from, but we'll be going to the vet this week if this doesn't go away! And, much to my dismay, Steve mentions having "flea bites" while out in public, making me feel downright dirty! Nothing like telling people that you have fleas!!! ugh.
Hello.
I swore I wouldn't create a blog until I had children and was 30+, but our experiences thus far in owning our first house have been way too comical not to share with our friends and family. In addition, we figured this would be a great place to post before and after shots and track our progress, afterall, we are putting our blood, sweat, and tears into this place!
